Selection \u2192<\/a><\/span><\/div>\n<div id=\"dbimpcontent\">\n<h2 class=\"title\">Scrolling and Zooming<\/h2>\n<p><span class=\"application\">VoceVista Video Pro<\/span> is designed to make it easy to change parameters, and to see the effects of those changes immediately.<br \/>\n    The most important parameters that are changed frequently are the displayed <span class=\"bold\"><strong>time range<\/strong><\/span>,<br \/>\n    and the displayed <span class=\"bold\"><strong>frequency range<\/strong><\/span>.<br \/>\n    The other frequently changed values that affect the display are the  <span class=\"bold\"><strong>dynamic range<\/strong><\/span><br \/>\n    of the Spectrogram and Spectrum, and the dynamic range of the Waveform and Timeline.<\/p>\n<p>There are various ways to change those, but one of the fastest is to point at an item, and<br \/>\n    then to <span class=\"bold\"><strong>scroll<\/strong><\/span> (shift its range) by clicking and dragging,<br \/>\n    or<br \/>\n    to <span class=\"bold\"><strong>zoom<\/strong><\/span> (expand or compress its range) by using a zoom gesture, the mouse wheel, or the 1 and 2 keys.\n  <\/p>\n<div class=\"section\">\n<div class=\"titlepage\">\n<div>\n<div>\n<h3 class=\"title\">\n<a name=\"id-1.6.3.3.4\"><\/a>Mouse wheel emulation<\/h3>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>If you don&#8217;t have a mouse wheel, you can point at the scale or window to be zoomed and use<br \/>\n    the two-finger gesture for scrolling and zooming on your touchpad. Generally this consists of moving two fingers up or down on the touchpad.<br \/>\n    Another way to zoom and scroll is to tap the <span class=\"guimenuitem\">1<\/span> and <span class=\"guimenuitem\">2<\/span> keys on your keyboard.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"section\">\n<div class=\"titlepage\">\n<div>\n<div>\n<h3 class=\"title\">\n<a name=\"id-1.6.3.3.5\"><\/a>Interactive areas<\/h3>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>The following image shows all areas that can be manipulated by scrolling and<br \/>\n      zooming:<\/p>\n<div class=\"figure\">\n<a name=\"fig_ui_scrolling_zooming\"><\/a><\/p>\n<div class=\"figure-contents\">\n<div class=\"mediaobject\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/images\/en\/scrolling-and-zooming\/ScrollingZoomingOverlay.png\" alt=\"Scrollable and zoomable areas\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p class=\"title\"><b>Figure\u00a03.2.\u00a0Scrollable and zoomable areas<\/b><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><br class=\"figure-break\"><\/p>\n<div class=\"section\">\n<div class=\"titlepage\">\n<div>\n<div>\n<h4 class=\"title\">\n<a name=\"id-1.6.3.3.5.4\"><\/a>1) Time Range<\/h4>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>Because the time range of the Spectrogram is the most frequently changed range,  there are many different ways to manipulate it. Try out the various ways of scrolling and zooming the time range with the mouse shown in <a class=\"xref\" href=\"\/en\/documentation\/program-reference\/ui-contents\/scrolling-and-zooming\/#fig_ui_scrolling_zooming\" title=\"Figure\u00a03.2.\u00a0Scrollable and zoomable areas\">Figure\u00a03.2<\/a>. Moving the Time Range Slider (<span class=\"bold\"><strong>1c<\/strong><\/span>) or clicking on the Timeline (<span class=\"bold\"><strong>1d<\/strong><\/span>) is for navigating quickly to any part of the recording, while scrolling the time scale (<span class=\"bold\"><strong>1b<\/strong><\/span>) is much more precise for small adjustments.<\/p>\n<p>The time range can also be manipulated by the forward and backward buttons and the zoom buttons on the toolbar, or by the <span class=\"guimenuitem\">Zoom&#8230;<\/span> entries in the <span class=\"guimenu\">View<\/span> menu. You can also use <a class=\"link\" href=\"\/en\/documentation\/program-reference\/ui-contents\/markers\/\" title=\"3.1.9.\u00a0Markers\"> Markers<\/a> to bookmark specific parts of a recording and return to them quickly.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"section\">\n<div class=\"titlepage\">\n<div>\n<div>\n<h4 class=\"title\">\n<a name=\"id-1.6.3.3.5.5\"><\/a>2) Frequency Range<\/h4>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>You can change the frequency range by scrolling and zooming the frequency scale (<span class=\"bold\"><strong>2<\/strong><\/span>). You can also set precise values on the <a class=\"link\" href=\"\/en\/documentation\/program-reference\/options\/scale-settings\/\" title=\"3.2.7.\u00a0Scale Settings\">Scale settings page<\/a>, or on the Scale Range toolbar (this toolbar is not shown by default and needs to be enabled).<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"section\">\n<div class=\"titlepage\">\n<div>\n<div>\n<h4 class=\"title\">\n<a name=\"id-1.6.3.3.5.6\"><\/a>3) Dynamic Range<\/h4>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>The displayed dynamic range  determines the range of intensities shown on spectrogram and spectrum. It can also be set on the <a class=\"link\" href=\"\/en\/documentation\/program-reference\/options\/colormap-editor\/\" title=\"3.2.6.\u00a0Colormap Editor\">Colormap editor<\/a>. It can be changed by scrolling and zooming the spectrum intensity scale, or by dragging the brightness and contrast sliders on the toolbar (<span class=\"bold\"><strong>3<\/strong><\/span>).<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"section\">\n<div class=\"titlepage\">\n<div>\n<div>\n<h4 class=\"title\">\n<a name=\"id-1.6.3.3.5.7\"><\/a>4) Waveform \/ Timeline Amplitude Range<\/h4>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>This setting determines the dynamic range shown on the Waveform and Timeline. You need to enable the Waveform in the <span class=\"guimenu\">View<\/span> menu to see the amplitude scale.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"section\">\n<div class=\"titlepage\">\n<div>\n<div>\n<h4 class=\"title\">\n<a name=\"id-1.6.3.3.5.8\"><\/a>5) Timeline zoom<\/h4>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>The Timeline itself can also be zoomed by holding <span class=\"guimenuitem\">Ctrl<\/span> while using the mouse wheel (or the mouse wheel emulation keys) on the Spectrogram or the Timeline.
